Hellmuth Becker (born February 9, 1902 in Kleve ; † June 12, 1962 in Hamburg ; also Hellmut or Helmut ) was a German politician ( NSDAP ). From 1932 to 1933 he was a member of the Hamburg Parliament and from 1933 to 1945 he was active in the National Socialist German Reichstag as well as in Hamburg's Nazi cultural policy.

Life

Becker graduated from high school in Eppendorf near Hamburg. He then spent a year with the Reichswehr and then worked for three years as a commercial clerk. He studied political science at the University of Hamburg and graduated in 1929 with a doctorate . He then headed a department of a Hamburg building society until 1932, during which time he joined the NSDAP.

Becker was a member of the Hamburg parliament from 1932 to March 25, 1933 and in March 1933 managing director of the local NSDAP parliamentary group. He then represented constituency 34 in the German Reichstag. During the time of National Socialism he was Gauamtsleiter of the Gaus Hamburg. In August 1933, Becker became a member of the Hamburg State Council , a newly created body that was renamed the Councilor's Assembly on April 1, 1938 . From 1940 to May 1945 he was the head of the administration for art and cultural affairs of the Hamburg municipal administration and was also allowed to use the title of senator , even if there was no senate at the time. After the war he stayed in Hamburg and died there in 1962.
