The Hellweg Route is a cycle route along the historic Hellweg in Westphalia .

It leads from the Ruhr to the Weser starting in Dortmund . Then it goes via Unna , Werl , Soest , Bad Westernkotten , Erwitte , Geseke , Salzkotten , Paderborn , Bad Driburg and Brakel to Höxter . Since 2003 it has been signposted with an emblem showing a spoked wheel.

  • Lippetal: St. Ida pilgrimage church in Herzfeld , neo-Gothic basilica and the oldest pilgrimage site in Westphalia.
  • Hovestadt Castle : UNESCO monument. The castle was built in 1292 and has a castle chapel with a baroque garden.
  • Geseke: Eringerfeld Castle : Baroque castle, moated castle
  • Soest: Historic old town: architectural monuments in green sandstone
  • Paderborn: Pader spring area and cathedral
