Helmar Müller

Helmar Müller (born August 11, 1939 in Sombor , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) is a former German athlete and football functional .

Starting for the Federal Republic of Germany, he won the bronze medal at the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City with the 4 x 400 meter relay (3: 00.5 min, European record, together with Gerhard Hennige , Manfred Kinder and Martin Jellinghaus and Helmar Müller as starting runner).

He also started in the 400-meter individual race at these Olympic Games , but was eliminated in the semifinals.

Helmar Müller was part of the athletics department of VfB Stuttgart . In his active days he was 1.80 m tall and weighed 74 kg.

Under head coach István Sztani , Helmar Müller was assistant coach of the Bundesliga soccer team at VfB Stuttgart in 1975. He was also a board member from 1975 to 1987 and a member of the board of directors of Stuttgarter from 1987 to 1993. From 1977 to 2013 Müller was the team supervisor and department head of the second soccer team at VfB.
