Helmut Albert Roschiwal (born March 28, 1942 ) is a German mechanical engineer , entrepreneur and specialist book author .

Life

Roschiwal grew up in the Yugoslavian Banat . From 1948 to 1952 he attended the Hungarian elementary school and from 1952 to 1954 the Serbo-Croatian grammar school. Since his father died as a German soldier in World War II , the future prospects for German children were very limited. Therefore, in 1954 he traveled to Germany with his mother.

After completing elementary school in Augsburg, he trained as a toolmaker at Messerschmitt AG in Augsburg from 1956 to 1960 . In 1961 Roschiwal graduated from the Oskar von Miller Polytechnic in Munich and then studied mechanical engineering. After completing his studies from 1962 to 1964, Roschiwal first worked from 1965 to 1970 as a designer and from 1970 to 1983 as development manager at Holtschmidt - Developments in Augsburg. He carried out contract developments for machine tool companies. For example, he designed the first numerically controlled large-scale machining center with NC drives and hydrostatic bearings in all axes for machining reactor heads.

On January 1st, 1984 he founded Roschiwal + Partner Ingenieur GmbH. In 2008 he handed over the company, which today has around 100 engineers, to the next generation and has been an advisory board member there ever since.

Helmut A. Roschiwal is also the author of technical articles, but above all he is the author of the CNC manual together with Hans B. Kief and Karsten Schwarz. The book is also used as a textbook at universities.

Inventions

  • Development of a CFRP slide for machine tools. As a result of the base body produced as a fiber-plastic composite body, the housing can be designed to be very light and yet sufficiently dimensionally stable, which leads to a significant reduction in the mass of the slide. Due to the lower mass to be accelerated, the drives and guides can be relieved and designed accordingly more cost-effectively. - DE 10 2011 108 983 A1
  • Improvement of toothed belt properties through a special arrangement of rack pieces - DE 32 23 526 C1
  • Further development of an articulated tool head to enable quick pivoting and traversing movements - DE 298 18 719 U1
  • Development of a system for the processing of angle profiles with several processing stations - EP 0 115 340 A3
