List of MPs to the Styrian Landtag (17th legislative period)
This list of the members of the Styrian Landtag (17th legislative period) lists all the members of the Styrian Landtag in the XVII. Legislative period (2015-2019).
history
Due to cost-cutting measures, the state parliament was downsized in the last (16th legislative period). That is why there were no longer 56 but 48 mandates to be awarded.
The Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ) lost 8 of the 23 seats in the 2015 state elections , and therefore only has 15 seats. The Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) also lost 8 MPs in the state elections and has 14 MPs in the new legislative period. The third strongest force was the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ), which more than doubled its mandate from 6 to 14 mandates. Fourth place went to the Greens - The Green Alternative (GRÜNE), who were able to hold their three mandates, and the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) is again represented in the state parliament with two members.
The legislative period began in 2015. The Styrian state parliament dissolved prematurely on September 5, 2019; the regular legislative period would have lasted until 2020. ÖVP, FPÖ and Greens voted for new elections, SPÖ and KPÖ were against. The new elections took place on November 24, 2019.
