List of MPs to the Styrian Landtag (III legislative period)
This list of MPs to the Styrian Landtag (III. Legislative period) lists all MPs to the Styrian Landtag in the III. Legislative period from March 18, 1953 to March 18, 1957. After the state elections in 1953 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) had 21 members, although it had lost one seat compared to the state elections in 1949. Furthermore, the Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) was represented with 20 seats in the state parliament, which meant an increase of two seats. The electoral party of the Independents (WdU) won six seats in the 1953 election and thus had one less representative than in 1949. As in the previous period, the Communist Party of Austria (KPÖ) was represented by one member.
After the deputies were sworn in on March 18, 1953, the members of the state parliament elected the members of the state government Josef Krainer senior III on May 15, 1953 . The legislative period ended with the inauguration of the members of the fourth legislative period on March 18, 1957.
Functions
Landtag President
As the new first President of the III. Josef Wallner (ÖVP) was elected in the legislative period . He had already held this office between 1945 and 1949, but had since been replaced by Franz Thoma , who left the state parliament after the state elections in 1953. Karl Operschall (SPÖ) was re-elected as 2nd President of the State Parliament, taking over the office in 1952. For the first time, the position of 3rd President of the Landtag was filled in the Styrian Landtag, which Franz Scheer (WdU) took over. All three state parliament presidents were elected in an open vote.
Club chairmen
In the constituent session of the ÖVP, the previous President of the Landtag, Josef Wallner, assumed the function of parliamentary group chairman.
Folder and secretary
In the first state parliament session, Franz Wegart (ÖVP), Friedrich Hofmann (SPÖ), Viktor Strohmayer (WdU) and Ditto Pölzl (KPÖ) were elected secretaries. The MPs Franz Koller (ÖVP), Vinzenz Lackner (SPÖ), Friedrich Alois Hueber (WdU) and Ditto Pölzl (KPÖ) took over the function of files .
Member of the state parliament
The 56 state parliament mandates were awarded in four state electoral districts. These were the Landtag constituencies 1 (Graz and the surrounding area) , 2 (West and South Styria) , 3 (East Styria) and 4 (Upper Styria) . Of the 56 mandates, three mandates were awarded as mandates with residual votes (R).

As in 1949, the deputies formed six committees at the constituent meeting, each comprising between seven and nine members and substitute members. The following list includes the names of the committees, the number of members or substitute members and the distribution of members between the parties.
