List of members of the Styrian Landtag (8th legislative period)
This list of members of the Styrian Landtag (8th legislative period) lists all of the members of the Styrian Landtag in the 8th legislative period from November 12, 1974 to October 23, 1978. In the 1974 state elections , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) won 31 of the 56 state parliament seats and thus won an absolute majority majority for the third time after 1945 and 1965, with three more seats than in 1970. The Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ), on the other hand, lost three seats and only had 23 members in the state parliament. The Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) kept its two mandates despite slight losses. After the deputies swore in on November 12, 1974, the state parliament elected the state government Niederl II on the same day .
Functions
Landtag President
Hanns Koren (ÖVP) was re-elected as President of the State Parliament in the constituent session , with his election being unanimous. Koren had already taken over the position of the President of the State Parliament in 1970 and had previously been Deputy Governor. The office of 2nd President of the State Parliament was initially taken over by the SPÖ politician Franz Ileschitz , with Ileschitz resigning as President of the State Parliament on October 21, 1975, as he had previously been elected as the new President of the Styrian Chamber of Labor. While Ileschitz remained a member of the state parliament, Hans Gross (SPÖ) succeeded him on October 21, 1975 as the new 2nd state parliament president . On November 12, 1974, Franz Feldgrill (ÖVP) was elected third state president after a unanimous vote .
Folder and secretary
In the first parliamentary session, Hermann Ritzinger (ÖVP), Josef Lind (ÖVP), Hans Brandl (SPÖ) and Traute Hartwig (SPÖ) were elected. The function of files was taken over by the MPs Josef Schrammel (ÖVP), Alexander Haas (ÖVP), Hans Karrer (SPÖ) and Johann Fellinger (SPÖ).
Member of the state parliament
The 56 state parliament mandates were awarded in four state electoral districts. These were the Landtag constituencies 1 (Graz and the surrounding area) , 2 (West and South Styria) , 3 (East Styria) and 4 (Upper Styria) . Of the 56 mandates, three mandates were awarded as mandates with residual votes (R).
