This list of the members of the Styrian Landtag (IX. Legislative period) lists all the members of the Styrian Landtag in the IX. Legislative period from October 23, 1978 to October 21, 1981. In the state elections in 1978 , the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) won 30 of the 56 seats in the state parliament and was thus able to defend its absolute majority, although it lost one seat compared to 1974. As in the previous election, the Socialist Party of Austria (SPÖ) achieved 23 seats in the state parliament, while the Freedom Party of Austria (FPÖ) was able to increase its mandate to a total of three thanks to slight gains. After the deputies were sworn in on October 23, 1978, the state parliament elected the state government Niederl III on the same day .

Functions

Landtag President

Hanns Koren (ÖVP) was re-elected as President of the State Parliament in the constituent session , with his election being unanimous. Koren had already taken over the position of the President of the State Parliament in 1970 and had previously been Deputy Governor. The SPÖ politician Franz Ileschitz was also confirmed as the second president of the state parliament, which he had taken over in 1975. Also Franzfeld Grill (ÖVP) was re-elected as the third President of the Parliament.

Karl Eichtinger (ÖVP), Josef Lind (ÖVP), Hans Brandl (SPÖ) and Annemarie Zdarsky (SPÖ) were elected in the first state parliament session . The MPs Josef Schrammel (ÖVP), Alexander Haas (ÖVP), Hans Karrer (SPÖ) and Anton Premsberger (SPÖ) took over the function of files .

The 56 state parliament mandates were awarded in four state electoral districts. These were the Landtag constituencies 1 (Graz and the surrounding area) , 2 (West and South Styria) , 3 (East Styria) and 4 (Upper Styria) . Of the 56 mandates, three mandates were awarded as mandates with residual votes (R).
