Hannes Amesbauer (born April 18, 1981 in Bruck an der Mur ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ). He has been a member of the National Council since November 9, 2017 and was previously a member of the state parliament in Styria from 2010 to 2017.

Life

Amesbauer first attended elementary school in Neuberg an der Mürz for four years and then continued his compulsory education for four years at the secondary school in Neuberg an der Mürz. He then attended the polytechnic course in Mürzzuschlag for a year and then learned the profession of stonemason for three years, at the same time attending the state vocational school for stonemasons in Graz. He completed his apprenticeship with the final apprenticeship examination as a stonemason and then did his basic military service with the Guard in Vienna for eight months. He was also a skilled worker and spent a year with the Austrian Armed Forces in the Kosovo area. He then worked as a production employee in a metalworking company and graduated from an evening school in Vienna between 2005 and 2006 on a part-time basis. In 2006 Amesbauer began studying political science, which he completed in 2011 with a bachelor's degree. From 2008 to 2010 he was a member of parliament for Mario Kunasek, who was a member of the National Council at the time .

In February 2019 it was announced that he was expecting a child with Johanna Jachs ( ÖVP ). Their daughter was born in early August 2019.

Hannes Amesbauer holds the rank of chief fire inspector (HBI) and is a fire brigade commander at FF Krampen (BFV Mürzzuschlag).

Politics and functions

Amesbauer joined the Ring Freedom Youth Austria (RFJ) in 2002 and became a member of the Freedom Party of Austria in 2004. In 2005 he rose to the position of local party chairman of the FPÖ in Neuberg an der Mürz, and between 2006 and 2009 he was district chairman of the RFJ Mürzzuschlag. From 2007 and 2009 he was federal manager of the Ring of Freedom Students and from 2007 to 2009 deputy regional chairman of the RFJ. Between 2007 and 2009 he worked as deputy district party chairman of the FPÖ Mürzzuschlag and was elected district party chairman in June 2009. Between 2009 and 2013 he was the regional chairman of the RFJ Styria and during this time also held the position of the RFJ federal deputy chairman. In 2013, following a merger of the former political districts of Bruck an der Mur and Mürzzuschlag, he was elected district party chairman of the FPÖ Bruck-Mürzzuschlag.

Since 2010 he has been a member of the municipal council of the market town of Neuberg an der Mürz and was also vice mayor between 2015 and 2020.

Amesbauer ran for the FPÖ in the 2010 state elections and was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament on October 21, 2010. From 2014 until the end of the 2015 legislative period, he was the club chairman of the liberal state parliament club. In 2015 he was re-elected to the state parliament and became area spokesman for social affairs, education and emergency organizations. In 2016 Amesbauer was also appointed deputy party chairman of the FPÖ Styria and has been a member of the federal party executive since 2017.

In the 2017 National Council election he was the top candidate of the Styrian FPÖ and was sworn in as a member of the National Council on November 9, 2017. In the course of the National Council election in 2019 he was again the top candidate of the FPÖ Styria and has since been deputy club chairman and spokesman for "internal affairs" of the FPÖ parliamentary club .
