Johanna Jachs

Johanna Jachs (born October 16, 1991 in Freistadt ) is an Austrian lawyer and politician of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP). She was sworn in as a member of the National Council on November 9, 2017 .

Life

education and profession

Johanna Jachs was born as the daughter of the ÖVP politician Christian Jachs , mayor of Freistadt and member of the Austrian Federal Council , who died in 2016 . After elementary school and secondary music school in Freistadt, she attended the Bundesoberstufenrealgymnasium (BORG) for communication and media studies in Hagenberg im Mühlkreis , where she graduated in 2010 . Then she began studying law at the University of Innsbruck . In 2012 she moved to the Johannes Kepler University Linz (JKU), completing her degree in 2016 with a master's thesis on the Upper Austrian Landtag . In the office of Governor Thomas Stelzer , she was responsible for youth, security and integration from October 2017 to November 2017.

In February 2019 it became known that she was expecting a child with Hannes Amesbauer ( FPÖ ). Their daughter was born in early August 2019.

politics

In Freistadt she is a member of the municipal council, in February 2016 she was elected district chairwoman of the Young People's Party in the Freistadt district. In the 2017 National Council election , she ran for fourth place on the list in the Mühlviertel regional constituency . Because of the preferential votes she achieved , she was ranked second on the VP constituency list in the Mühlviertel and thus made it into the National Council. On November 9, 2017, it was held at the constituent meeting of the XXVI. Legislative period as a member of the Austrian National Council, where she is a member of the Committee for Buildings and Housing, the Committee for Research, Innovation and Digitization, the Justice Committee and the BVT Investigation Committee .

In the 2019 National Council election , she was first in the ÖVP list in the Mühlviertel regional constituency and fourth in the Upper Austrian constituency . In August 2020 she was elected next to Johanna Miesenberger as deputy of the ÖVP district party leader Josef Naderer in the Freistadt district.
