Oliver Wieser (* 10. July 1973 in Graz ) is an Austrian politician of the SPÖ , FH professor at Campus 02 , and a management consultant . On July 7, 2015, he was sworn in as a member of the Styrian state parliament , of which he was a member until December 17, 2019. From December 2017 to October 2018, he was the successor to Max Lercher as regional manager of the SPÖ Styria.

education

After elementary school (1979–1983) and the Ferdinandeum music school (1983–1987), Wieser attended the Federal Commercial Academy in Graz Monsbergergasse from 1987 to 1992 , from which he graduated in 1992 with the final examination.

From July 1992 to February 1993 Wieser did military service in the Austrian Armed Forces .

From September 1999, Wieser completed a part-time course in sales management at the University of Applied Sciences Campus 02 in Graz. He completed this on July 4, 2003 with the diploma examination for Magister (FH) with excellent success; Diploma thesis : Market segmentation in the financial services sector .

In September 2007 he began studying social and economic sciences at the Karl-Franzens University in Graz. He successfully completed this in March 2012 with a doctorate ; Dissertation topic : Organization and control of the sales channels in trade management for selected goods categories .

Professional background

From April 1993 to June 2007 Wieser was employed in a wide variety of functions at the Bank for Labor and Economics (BAWAG). His field of activity ranged from customer service to the euro changeover, project coordination for the bank's internal IT implementation, interim management of branches, various trainer activities in BAWAG's training department, to managing a sales department in BAWAG's regional headquarters with 22 employees.

In addition, Wieser was an apprenticeship auditor for bank clerk for the Styrian Chamber of Commerce from 2002 to 2012.

From March 2005 to June 2007, Wieser taught part-time at the University of Applied Sciences Campus 02 as part of the Sales Management course. Since July 2007 he has been a full-time lecturer and coordinator for sales management in the International Marketing & Sales Management degree programs on Campus 02. His area of ​​responsibility includes teaching, coordinating teaching content and coordinating part-time lecturers, as well as supervising academic work and practical projects. In this context, he gave numerous lectures and published several publications .

Since August 2011 he has been a freelance trainer in sales and motivation and was managing director of a management consultancy from January 2012 to June 2017 .

Political career

Oliver Wieser began as a political career changer. He was neither a party member nor did he have a career “typical” for a Social Democrat. He responded to an advertisement from the SPÖ Graz-Umgebung and impressed at the hearing with his educational concept in such a way that 93 percent of the officials nominated him for the first place in the candidate proposal. Despite the massive losses that the SPÖ suffered in the 2015 state elections , Wieser was unable to accept entry into the state parliament. He was sworn in as a MP on July 7, 2015.

In the state parliament, Wieser was a member of the committees for education (education, school, child care, youth, women, family and sport), health (health and care, science and research), and finance . He was also appointed health spokesman for the SPÖ. After the state elections in 2019 , he left the state parliament.

Private

Oliver Wieser lives in Seiersberg-Pirka am Gedersberg. He has been married since 1996 and has a son (* 1997) and a daughter (* 2000).

The hobbies of the former American football player of the Graz Giants include music , reading , oenology , running , tennis , fitness training, dancing , skiing and soccer .
