course
The Ihlenbek rises in Hohenlockstedt on the border with the municipality of Lohbarbek . From there it flows in a south-south-west direction between Lohbarbek and Mühlenbarbek (which formed the common village of Berbeke until the 16th century ), the border of which it forms in parts , towards Störmarsch. It flows into the Stör via the Lohbarbek pumping station .
pond
About halfway along the length of the stream, it is dammed at Kreisstraße 45 and forms a small pond, the Ihl (en) stone pond .
Surname
According to Laur , Ihlenbek could be the originally named Bach Berbeke ( Beke is the oldest known spelling of nd. Bek for Bach ).
Ihlenbek is also the name of the road leading along the Mühlenbarbeker Au through Mühlenbarbek. Ilenbeck ( Beck was a spelling of Bek in earlier centuries ) is the name of a fictional place in the novel Maren by Johann Hinrich Fehrs from Mühlenbarbek .
On the DGK5 , the lower reaches of the Ihlenbek and, incorrectly, a ditch that flows into it are labeled as Ihlbek .
