Johann Hinrich Fehrs (born April 10, 1838 in Mühlenbarbek , † August 17, 1916 in Itzehoe ) was a Low German narrator and poet .

life and work

Johann Hinrich Fehrs lived most of his life in Itzehoe. He was a teacher and principal at the Auguste Viktoria School . His best known work was Maren (village novel, 1907); in addition, various stories. The Fehrs-Gilde has set itself the goal of keeping the work of Johann Hinrich Fehrs alive. The novel "Maren" is set in the fictional place "Ilenbek", by which Mühlenbarbek is meant.

During the First World War, Fehrs' homeland literary texts were rated as soldier-propagandistic contributions to the war under a völkisch-national aspect ( Friedrich Schnoor : "Un as in den Krieglarm wi staht in't Feld, / Fkampf quietly in sien Heimat uns' ' Poet hero. '").

Radio plays

In 1958, the NDR implemented his story Kattengold under the same title for radio as a dialect radio play. Directed by Hans Tügel spoke Henry Vahl (MA Nagel), Heinz Lanker (Pastor), Karl-Heinz Kreienbaum (bailiff) and Hans Mahler (Dr. Lodius) the lead roles.
