Helmut Bleier (1934 - December 23, 1982 ) was a German ski jumper . The athlete starting for the Ski Club Bischofsgrün in the Fichtelgebirge impressed with his national and international successes.

Bleier had a fatal accident on December 23, 1982 at the age of 48. With him, the club not only lost one of its most successful and high-profile performers of the fifties and sixties, but also a dedicated trainer for young jumpers.

Career

Bleier started at the Four Hills Tournament between 1957 and 1959 . At the Four Hills Tournament in 1957/58 he reached after an 11th place in Oberstdorf and a 16th place in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck, the 41st place in the overall tour score. At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1958 , he reached 41st place in individual jumping with jumps on 61.5 and 58.5 meters, tied with Norwegian Gudtorm Heldal . In the following year at the Four Hills Tournament 1958/59 he did not get beyond a 36th place in Oberstdorf. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen he only reached 52nd place. At the end of the tour he was 51st overall.
