Helmut Ferner (police officer)

Helmut Ferner (born September 3, 1933 ; † December 18, 2008 ) was a German officer in the People's Police . He was major general and from 1983 to 1990 head of the main police department in the Ministry of the Interior of the GDR (MdI).

Life

He also became a member of the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED), a member of the German People's Police, and pursued a career as an officer. On June 24, 1983 he was appointed major general by Erich Honecker and entrusted with the management of official business as head of the main department of the MdI's protection police (successor to Alfred Heydel ). On February 4, 1984, the National Defense Council of the GDR decided on his final appointment as head of the main department. In 1990 she was also discharged from the police force.

Furthermore, last lived in Deersheim and was a member of the Society for Legal and Humanitarian Support (GRH). He died at the age of 75.
