Helmut Frister

Helmut Frister (born December 22, 1956 in Berlin ) is a German legal scholar and holder of the chair for criminal law and criminal procedure law at the law faculty of Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf .

Live and act

After studying law in Bonn from 1975 to 1979, Helmut Frister passed the first state examination in 1980 before the Cologne Higher Regional Court and the second in 1984 before the State Justice Examination Office in Düsseldorf . As a student of Gerald Grünwald, he received his doctorate in 1986 at the Faculty of Law and Political Science at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität in Bonn on the subject of the "principle of guilt, prohibition of suspected punishment and presumption of innocence" and in 1993 the habilitation there on the subject of "the voluntative element of guilt" .

After substitute professorships at the universities of Münster and Regensburg and a professorship at the law faculty of the Technical University of Dresden , Helmut Frister has held the chair for criminal law and criminal procedure law at the law faculty of the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf and director of the since the winter semester 1994/1995 local institute for legal questions in medicine.

Frister has also worked as Of Counsel in the law firm Wessing & Partner since 2013 and is the managing director of the Alternative Design Working Group.
