Helmut Hellwig

Helmut Hellwig (born December 20, 1933 in Wanne-Eickel , † June 7, 2016 in Herne ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After graduating from elementary school, he completed an apprenticeship at the Deutsche Bundespost . He was a member of the German Postal Union from 1948 to 1956 and from 1957 a member of the Public Services, Transport and Traffic Union . From 1962 to 1980 he was the full-time managing director and state chairman of the SJD " Die Falken ". From 1969 to 1975 he was a member of the Westphalia-Lippe Regional Assembly. From May 1987 to 1999 he was chairman of the LfR broadcasting commission of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. In this role he played a key role in setting up private broadcasting in North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2001 he received the Cross of Merit 1st Class of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany from State Secretary Wolfgang Riotte in Düsseldorf. He was chairman of the "current forum" NRW and the "education and leisure work Herne eV"

Political party

Hellwig joined the SPD in 1953, was deputy chairman of the Herne subdistrict executive committee until 1980 and was a member of the SPD state executive committee in North Rhine-Westphalia until 1979.

MP

Hellwig was a city councilor for the city of Wanne-Eickel from 1964 to 1975, and from 1969 to 1975 chairman of the SPD city council group. He was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia from July 26, 1970 to May 31, 1995.
