Wolfgang Riotte

Wolfgang Riotte (* 1938 in Cologne ) is a German lawyer and administrative officer .

Life

After graduating from high school, Riotte initially did military service . He studied history until 1961 and then went on to study law , which he completed in 1965 with the first state examination in law. He then completed his legal clerkship in the district of the Cologne Higher Regional Court . In 1968 he passed the Second State Examination in Law and after his admission to the bar he worked in a law firm.

Riotte entered the administrative service in 1969 and worked as a civil servant at the Leverkusen tax office until 1971 . He then moved to the Ministry of Finance of North Rhine-Westphalia , where he was press officer for Minister Hans Wertz from 1971 to 1975 and personal advisor to Minister Friedrich Halstenberg from 1975 to 1978 . From 1978 to 1980 he took over the management of the office of Prime Minister Johannes Rau . He then moved again to the Ministry of Finance, where from 1980 to 1987 he was in charge of the department for personnel, organization, automation and budget of the tax and financial construction administration.

From 1987 to April 2003 Riotte was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia (1998/99 Ministry of the Interior and Justice). From May to July 2003 he was State Secretary in the State Chancellery and from August 2003 to 2005 he was a management consultant and was commissioned by Prime Minister Peer Steinbrück for the reform of the public service.

In 2005 Riotte was appointed to the expert commission for the reorganization of the administration in the Free State of Saxony . From 2008 to 2009 he worked as interim managing director of the German Committee for UNICEF eV and at the same time as a board member of the UNICEF Foundation. In April 2010 he was appointed to the expert commission of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Ministry of Finance for the evaluation of the federal security authorities (" Werthebach Commission ").

Honors

Riotte was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia on December 7, 2012 .
