Hans Wertz
Hans Wertz (born July 4, 1922 in Aachen ; † May 23, 2012 there ) was a German civil servant and politician ( SPD ).
Life and work
After attending elementary school, Wertz completed a commercial apprenticeship from 1936 to 1939 and then worked as a commercial clerk. From 1941 to 1945 he did military service and took part in World War II . After the war he worked as an editor for Aachener Nachrichten from 1946 to 1954 . In addition, he attended the administrative school, which he completed with the second administrative examination. 1955/56 he worked as an administrative clerk for the city of Aachen. In 1975 he became chairman of the board of directors of the Deutsche Bundesbahn . From September 1976 to 1990 he was then President of the State Central Bank of North Rhine-Westphalia based in Düsseldorf .
Hans Wertz died on May 23, 2012 at the age of almost 90, just a few days after his wife Martha, b. Horn. Both found their final resting place in Aachen's Westfriedhof .
Political career
Wertz joined the SPD in 1946. He was a city councilor in Aachen from 1948 to 1954 and headed the SPD parliamentary group there from 1950 to 1954. From 1957 to 1966 he was treasurer and since 1959 also first alderman of the city of Aachen. From 1953 to 1961 he was a member of the Rhineland Landscape Assembly . In 1954 he was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament, to which he initially belonged until 1966 and again, when he moved up on the state list on November 8, 1967, until 1975. December 8, 1966 to June 4, 1975, he officiated by Prime Minister Heinz Kühn as finance minister of North Rhine-Westphalia .
