Helmut Hornung

Helmut Hornung (born July 30, 1959 in Weilheim / Upper Bavaria) is a journalist and author specializing in astronomy .

Life

After completing his studies in English and German (thesis entitled “Mondreisen in der deutschen Literatur des 18. Century”), Helmut Hornung was a volunteer and then an editor for the Süddeutsche Zeitung for ten years . In July 2000, Hornung moved to the press office of the Max Planck Society and has since been editor-in-chief of the science magazine MaxPlanckResearch . In addition, he continues to write for the Süddeutsche Zeitung and Bild der Wissenschaft . To date, he has written more than a thousand articles for newspapers and magazines on his specialist field of astronomy and space travel and has given hundreds of lectures at schools, adult education centers and institutions. Among other things, he works as a lecturer at the children's university . Hornung has been a member of the Astronomical Society since 1985 . He is married and has two children. Hornung is also first chairman of the community college in Weilheim.
