Helmut Nürnberger

Helmut Nürnberger (born March 5, 1947 ) is a former German soccer player. In the 1970/71 season he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , for BSG Chemie Leipzig .

Athletic career

Helmut Nürnberger won the soccer district cup with the 2nd team of the company sports association (BSG) Chemie Leipzig in the 1969/70 season with a 2-1 victory over BSG Motor Grimma . He was also involved in all four games of the promotion round to the GDR league , with which Chemistry II achieved promotion. Both in the cup final and in the promotion round, Nürnberger was used as a defender. In the GDR league season 1970/71 he was part of the team of the 2nd team of Chemie Leipzig, of the 30 games played, he completed 21 games. His only game in the Leipzig league team played Nürnberger on November 18, 1970, when he was substituted on for defender Heinz Herrmann in the match of the 11th match day Chemie Leipzig - Dynamo Dresden (2: 4) in the 76th minute . Previously, he had also been used as a substitute in two friendlies for the 1st team. At the end of the season, the first team had to relegate to the GDR league, which also meant relegation to the district league for Chemistry II . Nürnberger was registered for the squad of the GDR league team, but was not used. Even later he no longer played in higher-class football.
