Helmut Oberdieck

Helmut Oberdieck (born June 28, 1918 - † October 8, 2011 in Düsseldorf ) was a German masseur , physiotherapist , athlete , athletics trainer and artist .

Life

As a prisoner of war, Oberdieck discovered that he had healing hands, trained as a masseur in the early 1950s and ran a successful practice in Düsseldorf. As a masseur for Maria Jeibmann , among others , he came to the German Athletics Association , for which he supervised the national team for over ten years , including at the Olympic Games from 1960 to 1972. He published his knowledge, which he had expanded through American experience. At an early stage, he also worked with strength training equipment in rehabilitation . He founded and supervised the athletics department of TuS Baumberg in 1897, successfully trained athletes, participated in long-distance walking competitions in the age group , painted a church in Düsseldorf and had various exhibitions of his works.
