Helmut Spiegel

Helmut Spiegel (born October 9, 1932 in Essen , † February 6, 2014 in Witten ) was a German journalist and author .

Helmut Spiegel grew up in Altenessen in a workers' settlement. His father, a Krupp car and locomotive fitter, would have liked to see his son become an engineer . But he soon found that he could describe technology better than operate it, and he became an editor . He first worked for the Neue Ruhrzeitung in Essen , then from 1961 for the Westdeutsche Allgemeine Zeitung in Witten , where he lived with his family until his death. The subject in Helmut Spiegel's literature is the Ruhr area .
