Helmut von Soosten

Helmut von Soosten (born March 29, 1964 in Hamburg ) is a German volleyball trainer . He looked after the Bundesliga women at VT Aurubis Hamburg and was assistant coach of the women's national team.

Career as a player

Von Soosten had been actively playing volleyball as a teenager since 1977. Later he was a setter in the second division at SSF Bonn , at Bayer Wuppertal , at Eimsbütteler TV and in the first Danish league in Odense .

Career as a trainer and manager

Von Soosten initially worked as a coach at Bayer Wuppertal (2nd division / regional division men and youth) and then at VC Schwerte (1st division women and youth). In the 1990s he was responsible for the next generation as a Hamburg association trainer for six years. Several times he achieved top places in the Bundespokal, the performance comparison of the youth selections of the federal states. Then von Soosten trained the women of the second division club CVJM Hamburg as well as the club's youth teams. In 2002 he reached third place at the German championships with the A-youth. From 2005 to 2010 he was coach of the Bundesliga Women of VT Aurubis Hamburg . At the same time, von Soosten was also the assistant coach of the women's national team. From 2010 to 2014 von Soosten was a manager and from January 2013 also a trainer at Aurubis Hamburg. In May 2014 von Soosten was dismissed from VT Aurubis. Since 2014 von Soosten has been an employee of the Hausbruch-Neugrabener Turnerschaft . Since 2017, von Soosten has headed the joint junior performance center of the Hamburg volleyball team and the Hausbruch-Neugrabener gymnastics association. In 2019, von Soosten's U14 youth team will be champions of Hamburg. On February 11, 2019, von Soosten took over the VTH second division team and returned to the VTH coaching bench after almost five years.
