Helmuth Josseck

Helmuth Josseck (born June 15, 1921 in Graz , Styria , † May 2, 2007 in Wels , Upper Austria ) was an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ).

Helmuth Josseck was born on June 15, 1921 in Graz. There he also attended the commercial academy . During the Second World War he served as an officer in the German Wehrmacht . After the war, he studied at the University of World Trade and earned the title of graduate economist. He later studied at the University of Innsbruck . During his studies in 1951 he became a member of the Olympia Vienna fraternity . After his tax advisor examination in 1957, he worked as an independent tax advisor and court-sworn expert.

In 1967 he took on his first political function when he was elected to the municipal council of the city of Wels. In 1971 Josseck was elected to the National Council for the FPÖ and was a member of it until 1983. During this time, the tax expert dealt mainly with financial and economic issues.

Between 1980 and 1983 he held the post of deputy chairman of the FPÖ club. In 1983, the FPÖ nominated him to succeed his party colleague Gustav Zeillinger as an ombudsman . Josseck carried out this activity until 1989 when he retired.

1997 Josseck came under criticism after a council meeting to Welser filmmaker Andreas Gruber as public enemy had described. The following legal dispute ended in an out-of-court settlement.

In 1998 Josseck became the FPÖ's first public prosecutor . Just one year later, in this role, he came into conflict with the FPÖ leadership when he attested that former FPÖ MP Walter Meischberger , who was on trial for tax evasion , had “no dishonorable behavior” .
