Helritt is a German pagan metal band from Thuringia .

history

The band was founded on January 18, 2005 after some of the members left Surturs Lohe . Tyr's son ( guitar ), Reki ( vocals ), Nidhöggr ( drums ) founded Helritt together. Boreas, who also played for Surturs Lohe, joined the trio a short time later. The group was completed by Werner, who was active at Vagabond. In June of the founding year, their demo forests appeared , which was offered at the band's concerts. Through concerts, Helritt came into contact with the Det Germanske Folket label , a sub-label of the Twilight distribution .

With the support of the record company, the band was able to release their debut album, Defiant of Descent, in December 2006 in the studio of XIV Dark Centuries . At the release party at Gasthaus Einsiedel in Zella-Mehlis , XIV Dark Centuries and Fjoergyn also played in front of a little more than 300 visitors. Her album is distributed in Germany , France , Great Britain , Canada and the USA . Meanwhile, a contract for three more albums has been concluded with Det Germanske Folke.

style

The members of Helritt refer to their style as Pagan Metal and use mostly pagan themes in their lyrics. Even before the founding of Surturs Lohe, they saw themselves as part of this sub-scene of metal , whereby they also use elements from other styles in their songs, such as from Thrash Metal . Musically, acoustic instruments are dispensed with, but many melodies and sometimes epic elements are used. The singing alternates between guttural screeching and clear singing , whereby the screeching singing makes up about three quarters of the vocal lines.
