Heltah Skeltah

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Heltah Skeltah was an American hip-hop duo from Brooklyn , New York , consisting of Ruck (aka Sean Price ) and Rock (aka Rockmon the Rockness Monstah). You were signed to the Duck Down label . Ruck und Rock were also members of the hip-hop group Boot Camp Clik , which also includes the Originoo Gunn Clappaz (OGC), Smif-N-Wessun and Buckshot .

Band history

Until 1996 Heltah Skeltah belonged to the rap group The Fabulous Five (short form: Fab 5 ), which they formed together with the group OGC . However, this merger was separated due to solo projects or due to the projects of the two subgroups. Shortly thereafter, the duo Heltah Skeltah released their debut album entitled Nocturnal . In its first week, it sold over 40,000 times in the United States . Two years later, the second album Magnum Force was released, but despite good reviews, it did not sell as well as expected.

The two band members then worked on solo projects: Ruck recorded some singles between 2001 and 2004 under his maiden name Sean Price . Rock also released singles and appeared on various mix tapes. At the time of his solo career he was called Rockmon the Rockness Monstah . In 2005 they reappeared together for the first time on the Sadat X tour. Her third album DIRT (Da Incredible Rap Team) was released in September 2008.

In January 2008, Rock was arrested for attempted murder and released twelve days later after paying $ 125,000 bail. He was charged with assaulting a well-known pimp (and gang member of the Bloods ). Rock shot him in the neck and paralyzed him. The rapper denied the incident.

After the moderately successful third album, the two members of the duo returned to their solo projects and collaborations with other artists.

Ruck (Sean Price) died on August 8, 2015 at the age of 43.
