Helvetia is a ghost town in Pima County in the US state of Arizona and is located at the foot of the Santa Rita Mountains , north of Madera Canyon .
history
Helvetia was founded in 1891 as a home for miners from the surrounding copper mines. The place had 300 residents, most of whom were Mexicans. The mines closed again as early as 1911 because they became unprofitable due to falling raw material prices. The post office opened on December 12, 1899 closed on December 31, 1921 and practically marked the end of the village.

Today there is not much to see of Helvetia, only a few foundation walls protrude from the ground, and the cemetery can still be made out. In the surrounding area there are heaps and shafts of the copper mines.
