Heng is an inhabited island in the Horgefjord in the municipality of Strand in the Norwegian province of Rogaland .
It is located in the middle of the fjord about 2.5 kilometers west of the mainland, across from Solbakk , southwest of Tau . Larger islands in the neighborhood are Idse in the south and Sør-Hidle in the north. The small archipelago island of Hengskjeret lies to the southwest near Heng .
From northwest to southeast Heng stretches for about 1.3 kilometers with a width of up to 830 meters. The highest point is the Høgabakka with 53 meters. On the north side of the island there is the large bay Vika , on the south-east bank Hagavika .
Heng is partly forested, but mostly open meadow landscapes exist. In the northern half of the island there are various courtyards and individual buildings in the form of a scattered settlement .
There are nine registered archaeological sites on Heng, eight of them in the northern half of the island and one near the southern tip.
