Henk Rayer

Henk Rayer (born October 30, 1949 in Blerick ; died September 8, 2013 in Venlo ) was a Dutch football player and coach.

Athletic career

Rayer first played for SV Blerick , whose youth teams he had gone through. In 1971 he moved to VVV Venlo , which had been promoted to the Eredivisie . Here, however, he was only used irregularly in the following two seasons, so that he returned to SV Blerick in 1973.

In 1975 Rayer took over his first coaching post in the first class at Wilhelmina '08 . In 1978 he returned to SV Blerick again, this time as head coach. This was followed by further positions in Dutch amateur football at SV Venray , VV Hapert and VV Geldrop , some of which he supervised in the top amateur division, the Hoofd class .

In 1990 Rayer switched to professional football as a coach when VVV Venlo, which was now back in second class, signed their former player. As third in the table, he qualified with the team for the promotion games to the Eredivisie, in which they prevailed against EEV Eindhoven and Dordrecht'90 . After the direct relegation he was dismissed after a botched start to the season in autumn 1992. A little later he took over the coaching position at Helmond Sport .

In 1993 Rayer started his first foreign engagement when he coached the German amateur club Viktoria Goch until 1995 . It followed again with SV Panningen , SV Hatert and RIOS '31 engagements in Dutch amateur football. In 2007 he went to Surinam and coached Inter Moengotapoe and was parallel as assistant coach of Kenneth Jaliens in the Surinamese senior team operates. With the club he won the championship title of Surinam.

Rayer struggled with alcoholism for a long time .
