Henning Wrogemann (born February 10, 1964 in Ebstorf ) is a German Protestant theologian and holder of the chair for religious studies and intercultural theology at the Wuppertal / Bethel Church University . He is also head of the Institute for Intercultural Theology and Interreligious Studies (IITIS) .

Life

Between 1985 and 1991, Wrogemann studied Protestant theology , history and philosophy at the Lutheran Theological University in Oberursel and the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg . From 1991 he worked as a research assistant and academic assistant at the Institute for the History of Religions and Mission Studies at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg at the chair of Theo Sundermeier , where he received his doctorate in 1995.

From 1996 to 1998 he went through the vicariate and then took up his pastoral work in the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover . From 2002 he was a lecturer for missions and religious studies at the mission seminar of the Evangelical Lutheran Missionswerk in Lower Saxony (ELM), Hermannsburg and recognized lecturer at the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom and the Stavanger Missionary School in Norway . In cooperation with the Norwegian university, he participated in the master's program MA in Theology and Mission Studies .

He completed his habilitation in 2005 in missiology and religious studies at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. Since 2007 he has been professor for missiology, religious studies and ecumenics at the Church University of Wuppertal / Bethel. The chair was renamed to Religious Studies and Intercultural Theology in 2018. His main research interests are theology of mission and interreligious dialogue, intercultural theology and hermeneutics, Islamic da'wa (call to Islam) and Christian-Islamic relations in the present.

Wrogemann is editor of the series Contributions to Mission Studies / Intercultural Theology (together with John G. Flett ) as well as co-editor of the journals Evangelische Theologie , Theologische Literaturzeitung and proclamation and research .
