Henri-Charles Puech

Henri-Charles Puech (born July 20, 1902 in Montpellier ( Département Hérault ), † January 11, 1986 ) was a French religious historian who was particularly interested in Gnostics . He made important contributions to the study of Manichaeism .

From 1952 to 1972 he was professor at the College of France on the chair for the history of religion.

Among other things, he was President of the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres and President of the Five Academies ( Cinq Académies ) (1968) and corresponding member of the British Academy (1970).
