Bantu , Nilots and Central Sudanese peoples make up a large part of the people of Uganda .

The Bantu make up most of the population. They include the Baganda with around 18% of the population, the Basoga in the southeastern area (11%), the Banyankole (8%) and Bakiga (8%) in the southwest, the Banyoro in the central west (3%), the Batoro (3rd %) and Bagisu in the east, the Ba hima (2%), the Banyarwanda , which make up 6%, and many other smaller ethnic groups.

In the north, the Nilotic language group with the Lango (6%) and Acholi (4%) is predominant. The Lugbara (4%) live in the northwest, the Karamojong (2%) in the northeast .

Europeans , Asians and Arabs only make up around 1% of the native population.

More than half of the people of Uganda are under 15 years of age. This means that Uganda has the youngest population in the world on average. The population is predicted to rise to around 128 million people by 2050.

The population density is particularly high in the southern regions.

In addition, around 3,000 Arabs from various nations and around 100 people from Western countries, mainly missionaries and merchants, live in Uganda.
