Hendrik Paul "Henri" or "Rie" Diricx (born July 7, 1927 in Duffel , Antwerp Province , Belgium ; † June 26, 2018 there ) was a Belgian football player .

Career

Diricx joined Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in 1943 at the age of 16 , where his older brothers Jef and Alfons were already playing. In 1946 he made his debut as a defender in the first team. In total, Diricx played for Union in the first division 314 games in which he scored 24 goals, excluding the seasons 1949/50 and 1950/51, when Saint-Gilloise played in the second division .

In 1961, after almost 18 years, Diricx left Union Saint-Gilloise and went to Racing Club Jette , which was then playing in the provincial series. In 1962 he and his team made it to fourth grade and in 1965 to third grade. Diricx continued his career in the provincial series at VO Wemmel (1966/67) and at Ixelles Sporting Club (1967 to 1969), where he was also a player-coach. At the age of 41, Diricx ended his playing career.

National team

Between 1952 and 1960, Henri Diricx played 29 international matches for the "Red Devils" , in which he scored one goal. He was in the squad of the Belgian team at the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland , but was not used during the tournament.
