Henri Heyman

Henri Heyman (born May 22, 1879 in Sint-Niklaas , East Flanders , Belgium , † April 4, 1958 in Ghent , East Flanders, Belgium) was a Belgian politician .

Life

The Catholic Heyman was involved in the General Christian Trade Union Confederation (ACV), of which he was chairman from 1914 to 1919. He was then elected a member of the Chamber of Deputies in 1919 and was a member of it until his death in 1958. Between 1923 and 1927 he was then chairman of the General Christian Workers' Association (ACW). He was also active as a member of the local council and as an alderman of Sint-Niklaas.

In 1927 Prime Minister Henri Jaspar appointed him Minister for Labor, Industry and Social Security in his cabinet. He also held this ministerial office in the subsequent government of Prime Minister Jules Renkin until 1932.

He then became chairman of the ACW again and held this office from 1932 to 1946. He was also mayor of Sint-Niklaas for the first time from 1933 to 1940 and again from 1944 to 1946.

On September 3, 1945, Heyman was awarded the honorary title of Minister of State along with numerous other politicians .
