Henri Letocart

Henri Letocart (born February 6, 1866 in Courbevoie , † 1945 in Paris ) was a French organist, composer and an important advocate for the renewal of liturgical song in his home country.

Henri Letocart studied from 1879 to 1885 at the École Niedermeyer, founded by Louis Niedermeyer in 1865, with Eugène Gigout , after which he attended the Paris Conservatory , where César Franck was his organ teacher and Ernest Guiraud his composition teacher. He then succeeded Léon Boëllmann as organist on the choir organ of the Paris church of Saint-Vincent-de-Paul .

From 1900 Letocart was organist at the newly built Charles Mutin organ and from 1920 to 1933 Kapellmeister at the Saint-Pierre de Neuilly church . Letocart composed works for the organ and the harmonium. A collection of pieces appeared under the title La lyre catholique . Has remained aware of the meditation from the year 1910. His bedeutendster student was André Fleury .
