Henri de Lorraine-Vaudémont
Henri de Lorraine-Vaudémont (* probably after 1430 ; † October 20, 1505 in Joinville ) was bishop of Thérouanne and then of Metz .
Life
He was born the son of Antoine de Lorraine-Vaudémont (1400–1458) and Marie, Countess of Harcourt and Aumale and Baroness of Elbeuf (1398–1476). At the age of 11 he was listed as a canon in Toul and Metz in 1441 . After studying in Paris, he was appointed Bishop of Thérouanne in Flanders in 1456 .
While his brother Ferry II accompanied the campaign of Duke John II of Lorraine to Catalonia , Henri took over the administration of the county of Vaudémont from 1468 . After the death of Georg von Baden , he was appointed Bishop of Metz on October 15, 1484. On May 6, 1485 he officially took over this office. In favor of his nephew Jean de Lorraine-Guise , he officially renounced the diocese on July 26, 1501, but remained in office as diocesan administrator since his nephew was only three years old.
During his tenure, the construction of Metz Cathedral was completed with the construction of the choir and chapels. He is buried in the Joinville Collegiate Church.
