Henri de Régnier
Henri François Joseph de Régnier , pseudonym Hugues Vignix (born December 28, 1864 in Honfleur , Calvados department , † May 23, 1936 in Paris ) was a French writer.
His poetry is dedicated to antiquity, nature and melancholy moods. After a symbolist phase, Régnier was under the influence of the Parnassians . He also wrote essays and culturally pessimistic novels.
From 1911 until his death in 1936 he was a member of the Académie française (fauteuil 39, successor to Eugène-Melchior de Vogüé ).
De Régnier was married to Marie de Heredia, the daughter of the poet José-Maria de Heredia . Marie de Heredia was also a writer and published under the pseudonym Gérard d'Houville .
