Henriette Eberwein

Henriette Eberwein , nee Rosamund Henriette Häßler or Regina Henriette Häßler (born November 24, 1790 in Erfurt ; † August 6, 1849 in Weimar ) was a German opera singer ( soprano ) and singing teacher .

Life

Eberwein was the daughter of the then famous composer and pianist Johann Wilhelm Häßler (1747–1822) and the singer Sophia Barbara Häßler , née. Kiel (1761-1844). Her beautiful voice was discovered at an early stage and barely out of its infancy, she entered the Weimar stage in November 1807 after taking lessons from Benedict Bierey in Dresden . In 1812 she married the also important opera composer Franz Carl Adelbert Eberwein and formed the famous quartet of the Weimar Opera with Karl Melchior Jakob Moltke , Karl Stromeier and Karoline Jagemann . She alternated in a number of roles, especially with Jagemann.

Her opera subject extended to serious as well as cheerful and was therefore a very extensive repertoire. Her voice was slightly appealing, soft and hearty, but also energetic at times. She was a dramatic singer in the true sense of the word, an accomplished coloratura singer.

She seems to have forced her voice too much, because the sound of it decreased noticeably. She, who for a long time was the role model of young singers who wanted to train for the Weimar stage, and who was once the highlight of the opera, sang less and less and finally only appeared on stage in very small roles.

In 1838 she was retired. She was now engaged as a singing master in drama and poetry, and many singers worth mentioning have emerged from her solid school.

She was married from June 1812 to the opera composer Franz Carl Adelbert Eberwein .

Plaque
