After finishing school, he became a music teacher for wealthy families. Initially penniless due to the war ( Fourth Coalition War (?)), He went to the Braunschweig Theater , where he made his debut on September 3, 1807 as " Tamino ".
After that, at Goethe's call, he moved to the Weimar Court Theater , where he stayed until his death. There he was appointed chamber singer in 1815 . Moltke was part of the Weimar Quartet together with Karoline Jagemann , Henriette Eberwein and Karl Stromeier . His best-known and most important leading roles included Max in Der Freischütz , Almaviva in The Barber of Seville , Achilles in Iphigenie in Aulis , George in John of Paris and the bricklayer in Masons and Locksmiths .
