Henriette Faisst

Marie Henriette Faißt , née Cluss (born March 9, 1831 in Heilbronn ; † July 30, 1902 there ) was the founder of the "Henriette and Hugo Faißt Foundation", which finances musical life and major musical works such as oratorios and choral works. Karl Grunsky (1871–1943) - German historian and music writer - paid tribute to her life and work . The book A House for Flowers and Music: Henriette Faißt in Heilbronn and Hugo Wolf , which was published by the International Hugo Wolf Academy , is also dedicated to Henriette Faißt and her relationship with musicians like Hugo Wolf and Ernst Friedrich Kauffmann .

Life

In 1859 she married Andreas Faißt . She was 45 years old when she moved into Villa Faisst with her husband and the two boys August and Hugo . Andreas died three years after moving in. Henriette then lived as a single widow with her two teenage sons in the house. Henriette is considered to be the "patron of Heilbronn's musical life" and the "generous donor" of a legacy of 300,000 gold marks for the "Henriette and Hugo Faißt Foundation", whose interest finances the support of musical people and the performance of great musical works such as oratorios and choral works should be.

Karl Grunsky (1871–1943), German historian and music writer, described the life and work of Henriette Faißt in his 1914 Nekrolog . The International Hugo Wolf Academy had submitted a new edition of the letters it had written to Hugo Wolf and Ernst Friedrich Kauffmann and his widow.
