Al Barr
Alexander Martin "Al" Barr (born September 12, 1968 in Hanover , New Hampshire ) is an American singer and front man of the Dropkick Murphys .
His first band was called DVA (Direct Vole Assault). Together with later members of Scissorfight , The Radicts , LES Stitches , and US Bombs , he founded the band 5 Balls of Power . He then co-founded and singer of the Bruisers , a street punk / Oi! - Tape. This often appeared with the Dropkick Murphys from Boston , and when their lead vocalist, Mike McColgan , left the band, Barr unceremoniously took his position. The first album that the Murphys produced with Barr was The Gang's All Here , released in 1999 .
Unlike the other members of the band, who all have Irish roots, Barr's father is from Scotland and his mother is German . He also speaks German and uses this for announcements during concerts in German-speaking countries. He has a son named Strummer , whom he named after British punk rock musician Joe Strummer .
