Henriette Müller (composer)

Henriette Müller (born January 5, 1961 in Ulm ) is a German saxophonist and composer .

Live and act

Müller is originally a trained doctor who also worked in Zimbabwe and Great Britain. In the early 1990s she went to New York City to complete her studies as a composer (with Richard DeRosa and Ludmila Ulehla ) and as a jazz saxophonist (with Bob Mintzer and Dick Oatts, among others ); In 1994 she received her Masters degree from the Manhattan School of Music . She played there with her own band in the Five Spot or the Knitting Factory . In 1996 she performed with Tony Scherr and Jim Black in the "World Beat Series" at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum . In Europe she went on tour with John Tchicai , Ed Ware and Bill Elgart, among others .

She composes contemporary chamber music influenced by jazz , vocal music and works for larger ensembles, which she often performs herself, with the Hanns Eisler Choir in Berlin , the Berlin Jazz Composers Orchestra and with Simon Pauli and Johannes Bockholt , who play their musical Are partners.
