Henriette van Lynden-Leijten

Henriette Johanna Cornelia Maria barones van Lynden -Leijten (born October 9, 1950 in Gilze-Rijen , † November 5, 2010 in Sint-Oedenrode ) was a Dutch diplomat.

Life

During her diplomatic career she held various posts in Cairo , Beirut , London and Brussels . From 2001 to 2005 she was the Dutch ambassador to Bulgaria . For her efforts to strengthen the Dutch-Bulgarian relations, she was awarded the order "Stara Planina" 1st class by President Georgi Parvanov in July 2005 . Upon her return from Bulgaria, she became Director of the Department for North Africa and the Middle East for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In April 2009 Van Lynden-Leijten was appointed Dutch Ambassador to the Holy See . It was accredited in October of the same year . Van Lynden-Leijten held this post until her death.

She was married to the Dutch journalist Aernhout baron van Lynden . November 2010 she died of cancer.
