Henrik Olesen

Henrik Olesen (* 1967 in Esbjerg ) is a Danish conceptual artist .

Olesen studied from 1989 to 1996 at the Royal Danish Academy of Art in Copenhagen and from 1995 to 1997 at the State University of Fine Arts - Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main in Christa Näher's painting class .

In his conceptual sculptures, room installations and collages, the artist takes up current and historical topics from art and cultural history as well as natural science, which for him are the starting point for examining the exclusion of minorities and social categorizations. In 2011 he was awarded the Villa Romana Art Prize and in 2012 the Wolfgang Hahn Prize .

Olesen lives and works in Berlin.
