Sergei Jensen

Sergej Jensen (* 1973 in Maglegaard , Denmark ) is a Danish painter and musician as well as performance and installation artist . He is known for his abstract paintings , which he makes from used, only partially painted textiles . He describes these as "paintings without paint".

life and work

Jensen was born in Maglegaard, Denmark and grew up in Frankfurt am Main . He studied at the Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Künste - Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main with Thomas Bayrle .

Jensen not only uses canvas or nettle for his paintings , but also uses used materials such as jute or linen sacks and other scraps of fabric. He sometimes makes his picture frames himself. He exposed some pictures to external influences such as sunlight or precipitation. Other works consist of pieces of fabric sewn together or show inclusions within the applied colors. B. from scotch tape or other office supplies.

Jensen owns a large collection of dog drawings that he made, which gave the name to the Dog Show Painting Show exhibition in 2010 .

Jensen has been working with the Ye Olde Rope group, which includes Oliver Husain and Claus Richter , since 1998 .

Jensen lives and works in Berlin and New York City .
