Henry Fok

Henry Fok Ying Tung ( Chinese  霍英東  /  霍英东 , Pinyin Huò Yīngdōng , Jyutping Fok 3 Jing 1 dung 1 ; born May 10, 1923 in Hong Kong ; † October 28, 2006 in Beijing ) was a Chinese entrepreneur . He was intermittently Vice-President of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People and President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong ( Chamber of Commerce ).

Life

After the Second World War, Fok became successful in business and founded various companies. He made high profits in particular during the Korean War by circumventing the UN embargo on the People's Republic of China. He had started out as a shipowner and later made money in the construction, real estate, oil industries and casino operator in Macau .

From March 1993, Fok was Vice President of the Political Consultative Conference of the Chinese People . He was President of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong and President of the Hong Kong Football Association and President of the Real Estate Developers Association of Hong Kong. Together with his business partner Stanley Ho , he owned major casinos in Hong Kong and Macau . According to US Forbes Magazine , Fok was one of the richest Chinese people in 2005 and was listed in The World's Billionaires .

Fok was married in three marriages and had thirteen children. His son Thomas Fok was convicted of arms smuggling into the United States in the 1990s. His son Timothy Fok is the current president of the Hong Kong Football Association . Fok died of cancer.
