Henry Franklin Gilbert

Henry Franklin Belknap Gilbert (born August 26, 1868 in Somerville (Massachusetts) , † May 19, 1928 in Cambridge / Massachusetts ) was an American composer and music writer.

Gilbert studied in Boston with Edward MacDowell and George Elbridge Whiting . He was a violinist in various entertainment orchestras. In addition, he studied the music of the Indians and black Americans, from which his compositions are shaped. In addition to orchestral pieces, he composed songs and piano pieces and published folk songs .
