Henry Lukács

Henry Lukács (* 1981 in Jena ) is a chief sergeant in the Bundeswehr and one of the first four soldiers to be awarded the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor for bravery .

Life

Battalion badge

Immediately after completing his apprenticeship as a roofer, Lukács began his military service as a voluntary long-term service with the paratrooper battalion 263 in Zweibrücken in Rhineland-Palatinate on May 1, 2001 . He later became a professional soldier and is deployed as a squad leader in the 1st company of this battalion.

Foreign missions of the Bundeswehr

  • In 2006 Lukács was deployed to the EUFOR RD Congo mission of the European Union in Africa.
  • The 2008 ISAF mission in Afghanistan was his second foreign mission. On October 20, 2008, he and three comrades came to the aid of other comrades and local children who had been victims of a suicide attack near Kunduz, despite burning vehicles and exploding ammunition.

Orders and decorations

Lukács and his three comrades were awarded the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor for bravery in the Chancellery on July 6, 2009 by Chancellor Angela Merkel and Defense Minister Franz Josef Jung .
