Alexander Dietzen

Alexander Dietzen (* 1976 in Kaiserslautern , Rhineland-Palatinate ) is a chief sergeant in the Bundeswehr and one of the first four soldiers to be awarded the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor for bravery .

Life

Battalion badge

Immediately after school, Dietzen started his basic military service on January 1, 1996 , then became a temporary soldier and in 2003 a professional soldier . He currently serves in the 1st company of the paratrooper battalion 263 in Zweibrücken in Rhineland-Palatinate .

Foreign missions of the Bundeswehr

  • In 2006 Dietzen was deployed to the EUFOR RD Congo mission of the European Union in Africa.
  • The 2008 ISAF mission in Afghanistan was his second foreign mission. On October 20, 2008, he and three comrades came to the aid of other comrades and local children who had been victims of a suicide attack near Kunduz, despite burning vehicles and exploding ammunition.

Orders and decorations

Dietzen and his three comrades were awarded the Bundeswehr Cross of Honor for bravery by Chancellor Angela Merkel and Defense Minister Franz Josef Jung in the Chancellery on July 6, 2009 .
